Rooney - the Yellow Lab

Rooney has been a happy go-lucky pup, running around with reckless abandon along-side his sister. When we went to the breeder to look at her new litter of puppies we were drawn to this massive playful critter. Rooney jumped all over our son and led his litter mates in a stampede all over our daughter. Of course he won over our hearts while at the same time his sister, the runt of the litter, licked her way into our daughter's plans. Three weeks later they came home to brighten up our house.

He is constantly running and rough-housing with his sister which has led to his leg injury. Actually both his knees are bad and will have to be repaired surgically. Unfortunately, it is not recommended that both knees be done at the same time, so Rooney will have his left knee repaired and then after the recovery period, he will have to go back in to have the right repaired. We have decided to have our Vet utilize a technique called Tightrope to effect the repair of Rooney's knee. The operation will be performed by Jeff Schuett, DVM (board certified surgeon) with the assistance of James (Jimmi) Cook , DVM. Dr. Jimmi is responsible for the initiation of this type of procedure on dogs. There is plenty of information available on the net about the treatment. http://www.columbiamissourian.com/stories/2008/10/17/mu-vet-develops-new-surgery/
